Senior Manager, Head of Transaction Monitoring

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Head of Transaction Monitoring for Checkout.com, based in London. You will join a growing international Compliance team, reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Controls. The role leads the global Transaction Monitoring function, ensuring effectiveness, scalability and alignment with AML policies and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the global Transaction Monitoring team, providing strategic oversight and technical expertise on AML risk detection and mitigation.
• Oversee both first‑line alert investigations and second‑line FIU and complex case investigations, ensuring seamless escalation and resolution.
• Design, maintain and continuously improve the transaction monitoring framework with a risk‑based, scalable approach.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to develop, refine and optimise monitoring rules, scenarios and AI/ML models.
• Implement quality‑assurance measures, monitor MI reporting and key performance metrics for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in senior financial crime/AML roles within regulated institutions, FinTech or payments companies.
• Deep understanding of AML transaction monitoring frameworks, typologies and multi‑jurisdictional regulatory expectations.
• Proven experience overseeing both first‑line alert investigations and second‑line FIU investigations.
• Strong analytical, data‑driven mindset with experience leveraging AI and machine learning for monitoring.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, capable of influencing senior leadership and regulators.

Required skills

• Proficiency with transaction monitoring platforms such as Actimize, Mantas or FICO.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and data‑visualisation tools.
• Experience with AI, machine learning and data‑analytics techniques applied to AML detection.
