Assistant Income Officer

About the role

The Assistant Income Officer will support the delivery of an efficient, customer‑focused income management service for a housing client. You will help recover rent, service charge and other debts while maintaining tenancy sustainability and assisting residents in financial difficulty.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of an allocated arrears patch and manage day‑to‑day recovery actions.
• Handle commercial, former tenant and cyclical arrears in line with policies.
• Produce court documentation and attend hearings when required.
• Generate invoices and payment demands for commercial customers.
• Manage virtual accounts and ensure debt recovery.
• Provide administrative support such as scanning, photocopying, processing refunds, setting up direct debits and taking payments.
• Deliver high‑standard customer service, offering support to vulnerable residents and using legal action only as a last resort.
• Maintain accurate system records of all contacts, actions and transactions.

Required profile

• Knowledge of housing‑related debt and ability to balance customer needs with organisational financial requirements.
• Understanding of income collection processes for leasehold, shared ownership and private rented accounts.
• Evidence of meeting performance indicators and ability to prioritise a varied workload.
