Assistant Manager - Accounting Services

About the role

The Assistant Manager – Accounting Services will lead a portfolio of clients, ensuring high-quality statutory accounts and providing strategic advice. Reporting to the Accounting Services Manager, you will work closely with senior leadership while developing junior team members in a collaborative practice.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a diverse client portfolio including limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Prepare and review statutory accounts in line with UK GAAP, FRS 102 and FRS 105.
• Oversee bookkeeping and management accounts produced by junior staff.
• Supervise, coach and develop Junior Accountants, Apprentices and other team members.
• Act as primary point of contact for clients, building trusted relationships and identifying advisory opportunities.
• Ensure assignments are delivered within agreed budgets and deadlines.
• Support resource planning, work allocation and departmental development alongside senior partners.
• Contribute to process improvements and maintain high technical standards.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified.
• 5‑8 years of experience, preferably within an accountancy practice at Senior Accountant level.
• Proven experience managing a client portfolio and supervising junior staff.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
