Assistant Project Manager

About the role

East West Rail is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support the Programme Manager for Utilities. You will help develop and manage project plans, schedules and budgets while working closely with engineers, suppliers and regulatory bodies across the Oxford‑Cambridge corridor.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in creating and maintaining detailed project plans, schedules and budgets.
• Coordinate with engineers, suppliers and regulators to ensure alignment and compliance.
• Monitor project progress, flag risks and support mitigation actions.
• Help oversee quality‑control and safety processes in line with industry standards.
• Prepare progress reports and project documentation for senior management and stakeholders.
• Facilitate communication between internal teams and external partners such as the Technical Partner and Ground Investigation Partner.
• Adopt EWR Co health and safety principles and promote a cost‑conscious mindset.
• Contribute innovative ideas and act as a role model for EWR Co’s values and ways of working.

Required profile

• Previous experience in project support or coordination, preferably within utilities or rail infrastructure.
• Ability to work with multi‑disciplinary teams and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Strong awareness of health, safety and quality standards.
• Cost‑focused attitude and willingness to propose creative solutions.
