Assistant Store Manager – Retail Operations

About the role

This is a rewarding opportunity for an Assistant Store Manager who thrives in a fast‑paced, event‑driven retail environment at the NEC. You will support daily store operations, plan staff rotas around event schedules and ensure high standards of customer service.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day store operations, maintaining service, presentation and trading standards.
• Plan, manage and optimise staff rotas in line with event schedules and peak footfall.
• Maintain accurate product pricing and ensure information is up‑to‑date.
• Place and manage orders to guarantee stock availability during busy periods.
• Use Excel and internal systems to forecast sales and stock requirements.
• Lead, motivate and support the team during high‑pressure trading periods.
• Deliver consistent, excellent customer service across the store.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and food safety procedures.

Required profile

• Previous experience in retail or convenience‑store management.
• Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Confidence using Excel for forecasting and data analysis.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
• Proven leadership and team‑management skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
