Associate Commercial Lead (Finance)

About the role

The Associate Commercial Lead will support the Commission in delivering commercial excellence across its finance department. Working in a hybrid model, you will manage commercial activity throughout the end‑to‑end lifecycle, ensuring value for money and responsible stewardship of public funds.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the commercial strategy aligned with organisational priorities.
  • Forecast and manage commercial requirements for assigned business areas.
  • Analyse market conditions, supplier capability and demand forecasts to inform decisions.
  • Maintain the commercial pipeline to ensure adequate planning and delivery timescales.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies, savings and broader organisational value.
  • Lead end‑to‑end procurement using appropriate public‑sector routes.
  • Develop sourcing strategies that achieve value for money and compliance.
  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements, evaluate options and assess risks.
  • Conduct market engagement and supplier discussions.
  • Provide expert commercial advice, challenge and assurance to business areas.
  • Drive continuous improvement in commercial practice.

Required profile

  • Experience in commercial procurement or sourcing within the public sector.
  • Strong analytical ability to assess market conditions and supplier performance.
  • Proven stakeholder‑management skills and ability to influence decision‑making.
  • Understanding of value‑for‑money principles and public‑sector procurement routes.
