About the role

Our client, a well‑established building services design consultancy, is expanding its Midlands operation. They are looking for an Associate Mechanical Director to lead the mechanical team in Birmingham, delivering innovative, low‑carbon engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design of complex building services projects from concept through to completion.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers of varying experience levels.
• Manage client relationships and ensure commercial and technical standards are met.
• Support business development activities and contribute to the growth of the Birmingham office.
• Collaborate with senior leaders to drive sustainable, energy‑efficient design solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Mechanical Building Services Design Consultancy.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary projects and manage client interactions.
• Strong commercial awareness and a track record of contributing to business growth.
• Chartered Engineer status or progress towards chartership is advantageous.
• Passion for sustainability and delivering low‑carbon building solutions.
