Audit Manager – Chartered Accountants

About the role

Pro‑Finance, an established independent firm of chartered accountants and business advisors, is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to join its growing team in Manchester. You will own audit assignments from planning through to completion, working closely with senior managers and directors to deliver high‑quality, client‑focused services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit assignments, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
• Act as the main point of contact for clients throughout audit engagements, responding to queries and maintaining strong relationships.
• Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior team members, providing guidance and constructive feedback.
• Prepare engagement budgets, monitor progress against targets and address any variances.
• Manage billing processes by monitoring time and resources to keep engagements commercially effective.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant auditing and accounting standards.
• Promote a collaborative team culture and support day‑to‑day people matters.
• Work closely with directors to meet client expectations and departmental objectives.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or an equivalent professional accounting qualification.
• Previous experience managing audit and accounts assignments within an accountancy practice.
• Strong understanding of audit quality, regulatory requirements and risk management.
• Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
• Proven experience leading, mentoring and developing junior team members.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
