Audit Risk & Compliance Manager

About the role

Our client, a respected UK accountancy and business advisory firm, is seeking an experienced Audit Risk & Compliance Manager to join its national Risk & Compliance team. This strategic position moves away from client‑facing work and focuses on shaping the firm’s ethics, audit compliance and enterprise risk management across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Support the firm’s ISQM (UK) 1 framework and audit quality initiatives.
• Advise partners and fee earners on ethical and regulatory matters.
• Monitor compliance with the FRC Ethical Standard and ICAEW Code of Ethics.
• Assist with external regulatory inspections and Practice Assurance visits.
• Produce reports for senior leadership and governance committees.
• Review and enhance firm‑wide policies, procedures and guidance.
• Prepare internal communications, technical updates and compliance briefings.
• Deliver training in collaboration with the Learning & Development team.
• Support strategic firm‑wide projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Undertake targeted file reviews following identified risk events.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with audit, audit quality, technical or risk & compliance experience in a professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of audit regulation, ethics and professional standards.
• Proven ability to interpret complex technical and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
• Analytical and problem‑solving abilities with confidence to advise senior partners.
• Experience managing multiple priorities and delivering high‑quality work to deadline.
