Audit Senior – Public Sector

About the role

Join a specialist public sector audit team at a respected accountancy firm. You will take ownership of complex audit assignments, work closely with public sector clients, and help develop junior colleagues in a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead public sector external audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Manage budgets, workflow and deadlines across a portfolio of audit engagements.
• Communicate regularly with clients to ensure a high level of service throughout the audit process.
• Support, review and develop junior team members through guidance and feedback.
• Handle complex audit areas including risk assessment, group audits and first‑year audit testing.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA, CIPFA or a similar professional qualification.
• Experience in audit, preferably with exposure to public sector external audit.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and auditing standards, including public sector disclosure requirements.
• Confidence managing multiple assignments, budgets and client relationships.
• Ability to assess risk, lead audit meetings and deliver high‑quality work to deadline.
