Backend Engineer – AI-driven Backend Systems

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to design and scale intelligent backend systems that power AI‑driven applications. The role focuses on building robust APIs, micro‑services and integrating Large Language Models and agentic workflows into production environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable backend systems using Python and modern frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs and micro‑services architecture for high‑performance applications.
• Integrate and operationalise Large Language Models and agentic AI workflows.
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams to deploy and optimise intelligent features.
• Work with databases including PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis for efficient data handling.
• Ensure system reliability, performance optimisation and scalability across services.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and evaluate trade‑offs for backend design.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver end‑to‑end product features.
• Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex production issues.
• Follow best practices in code quality, testing and deployment.

Profile

• 5‑9 years of backend development experience with strong proficiency in Python.
• Hands‑on experience with FastAPI or similar frameworks (Flask/Django).
• Practical experience working with Large Language Models and AI‑driven systems.
• Understanding of agentic AI concepts or autonomous workflows.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, micro‑services architecture and distributed systems.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Strong problem‑solving, debugging and communication skills.
