Backend Software Engineer (C#, Python, AWS) – 12‑month FTC

About the role

Join a global asset manager as a Backend Software Engineer on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. You will work within an Investment Tech Engineering team to design, develop and deliver robust backend services that support portfolio managers, analysts and data teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain backend applications and APIs using C# .Net, Python and SQL.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and end‑users to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues and deliver new capabilities.
• Implement infrastructure as code with Terraform and manage cloud resources on AWS.
• Contribute to full‑stack development, including GUI components where needed.
• Continuously improve code quality, performance and reliability of investment decision‑making systems.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering production‑grade software systems.
• Background in investment management or financial services.
• Advanced knowledge of C# .Net, Python, SQL, Terraform and AWS.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to translate business problems into technical solutions.
• Experience building web UIs, backend services and APIs.
• Comfortable using AI tools and integrating them into workflows.
• 2:1 degree or higher in a STEM discipline from a top‑tier university.
• Desirable: experience with R, delivery management or business analysis.
