Backend Software Engineer – Python

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to join an innovative technology company in London. The role focuses on building and scaling Python‑based platforms that connect real‑world devices with modern cloud and data infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement high‑performance backend architectures handling large volumes of real‑time data.
• Develop robust APIs using FastAPI and ensure clean, maintainable code.
• Optimize database queries and overall system performance with PostgreSQL and SQLAlchemy.
• Integrate distributed‑system tools such as Redis and Celery for scalable processing.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to incorporate ML inference services on GCP or Modal.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and production deployment processes.

Required profile

• Strong background in backend engineering with a focus on Python.
• Experience working on large‑scale, performance‑critical systems.
