Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist – Specialist Education

About the role

We are recruiting an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join a specialist therapeutic education provider operating across multiple sites in Essex. This senior position supports children and young people with complex SEMH needs, adverse childhood experiences and associated SEND, combining direct therapy with leadership responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessments and interventions for individuals and groups.
• Plan and deliver therapy programmes, contributing to EHCP targets and progress plans.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and multidisciplinary team members to ensure consistent therapeutic support.
• Provide advice and support to school staff and families, and liaise with external professionals and agencies.
• Contribute to pupil progress reports and monitor outcomes.
• Support therapeutic practice within classroom environments and deliver relevant training for colleagues.
• Help develop and maintain high‑quality therapeutic provision across schools.
• Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality and professional standards at all times.

Required profile

• Fully qualified Speech and Language Therapist with appropriate professional registration.
• Significant experience working with children or young people with SEND and complex SEMH needs.
• Excellent communication, organisational skills and a strong understanding of child development, SEMH and SEND.
