Bank Chef - Part Time

About the role

Gold Care Homes is looking for a part-time Bank Chef for its Mill House Care Home in Witney, Oxfordshire. The chef prepares and cooks nutritious, well-balanced meals for residents, taking account of individual dietary needs, preferences and medical conditions, while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and presentation. The position is unpaid sponsorship.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and cook daily meals according to the menus and residents' dietary requirements, adapting recipes for special needs such as diabetic, low-sodium and gluten-free diets, and monitoring portion control.
• Collaborate with the Head Chef or Manager to develop menus, using seasonal ingredients and local produce where possible, and gather resident feedback to improve meal offerings.
• Maintain a clean, organised kitchen and ensure food is stored, prepared and served in line with food safety standards, and report equipment issues.
• Monitor stock levels, order supplies and manage food costs by minimising waste, keeping accurate stock records.
• Work with care home staff to coordinate meal service and handle dietary requests, and supervise and train kitchen assistants or junior staff.
• Engage with residents to understand their preferences and help them choose meals.
