Batching & Production Operative – Concrete & Mortar

About the role

You will be responsible for producing batches of concrete, mortar and screeds according to the production schedule while maintaining a safe and clean yard environment. The role involves operating a range of plant and equipment and coordinating with drivers, yardmen and the dispatch team.

Key responsibilities

• Open the yard as required and monitor answering machine messages.
• Produce concrete, mortar and screed batches following the schedule.
• Communicate with drivers, yardmen and dispatch via radio, telephone and walkie‑talkie.
• Monitor raw‑material stock, reorder supplies and report abnormal usage.
• Carry out monthly stock takes and routine maintenance, including washing mixers after production.
• Operate loading shovel, forklift, telescopic handler and shunt lorries.
• Check consumable stock levels and report low inventory.
• Monitor silos for dust emissions and complete daily emission checklists.
• Perform periodic maintenance checks on plant and equipment.

Required profile

• Competent computer skills.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Good organisational abilities and capacity to coordinate duties with colleagues.
