Capital Projects Manager - Surrey/Berkshire

About the role

The NHS is seeking a Capital Projects Manager to lead feasibility, design and construction of major capital schemes across Surrey and Berkshire. This is a 6‑month temporary contract working 37.5 hours per week, reporting to the Associate Director of Capital.

Key responsibilities

• Lead feasibility and design studies for major and minor capital projects and prepare whole‑scheme budgets.
• Develop project briefs with end‑users, obtain sign‑off and produce detailed design drawings with the design team.
• Recommend procurement routes in line with Trust Standing Orders and manage contracts using the ProCure22 template.
• Instruct and manage external consultants and contractors, ensuring formal briefings and quality control on site.
• Produce specifications, tender documentation and manage the tender process for smaller schemes.
• Monitor budgets, maintain electronic project files and provide fortnightly progress updates to senior management.

Required profile

• Qualification in Architecture, Surveying, Engineering or a related design‑construction discipline.
• Significant experience managing complex capital schemes within the construction industry.
• Proven ability to write specifications and tender documentation.
• Excellent project management skills with the capacity to handle multiple complex tasks.
• Good knowledge of current construction legislation and regulations.
