Card & Clearing Processing Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a Card & Clearing Processing Specialist to join the Operations team of a leading banking institution in the City of London. The role ensures accurate, timely processing of card transactions, settlements and clearing across major payment networks.

Key responsibilities

• Process daily card authorisations, settlements and reconciliations.
• Manage clearing activities for card schemes such as Visa and Mastercard.
• Investigate and resolve transaction discrepancies, breaks and exceptions.
• Monitor settlement files and ensure timely posting to customer accounts.
• Support chargeback and dispute handling processes.
• Liaise with internal teams (Fraud, Finance, IT) and external partners.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls.
• Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives.

Required profile

• Experience in card operations, payments processing or banking operations.
• Strong understanding of the card lifecycle, clearing and settlement processes.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Knowledge of SWIFT and payment network schemes.
• Familiarity with banking systems and scheme rules.
