Associate Director of Finance - Strategic Financial Planning

About the role

This senior strategic leadership position sits just below Board level within the Finance Department of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The post-holder will have full autonomy for the budget and finances of the Integrated Health Centres (IHCs) and divisions, overseeing more than £2 bn of direct control and influence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional financial and business advice to the Health Board and Executive Director of Finance.
• Manage all aspects of financial control, probity, governance and accounting systems across IHCs and divisions.
• Lead Strategic Financial Planning for the 3‑Year Integrated Management Plan, collaborating with other Health Boards, Welsh Government and public sector partners.
• Ensure compliance with financial, accounting and auditing standards and obligations.
• Oversee delivery of savings schemes, meet delegated finance and performance targets, and maintain high standards of corporate governance.

Required profile

• CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant with extensive post‑qualification experience.
• Master’s‑level qualification or equivalent experience.
• Significant senior finance experience in a large, complex organisation, preferably within the NHS.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead high‑performing teams.
• Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential.
