Carpenter & Locksmith – HMP Aylesbury (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Carpenter and Locksmith to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Aylesbury, a Category C men’s prison. The role is full‑time, 39 hours per week, and involves supporting a safe, secure environment for prisoners, staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry and locksmith tasks across the prison estate, including repairs, installations and maintenance.
• Operate power tools and machinery safely in accordance with health‑and‑safety regulations.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of plumbers, electricians, painters, cleaners and administrators.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and ensure compliance with relevant standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a similar carpentry and locksmith role, preferably within a secure or institutional setting.
• NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or an equivalent qualification, or substantial relevant experience.
• Current First Aid at Work certification.
• Good knowledge of health and safety requirements.
