Childcare Legal Officer (Remote, Manchester)

About the role

Service Care Solutions is recruiting a Childcare Legal Officer to support a Local Authority in Manchester. The role is fully remote and involves managing childcare legal matters, ensuring cases progress within statutory timescales, and providing specialist legal support to solicitors and social care teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of childcare legal matters, including care proceedings and pre‑proceedings work, under supervision.
• Prepare and draft court applications, statements, bundles, notices and other legal correspondence.
• Support solicitors and Children’s Services teams with Public Law Outline (PLO) matters and court proceedings.
• Liaise with social workers, barristers, courts, guardians and external agencies to ensure timely case progression.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional with proven experience in Childcare Law.
• Ability to work independently while meeting statutory deadlines.
• Strong understanding of care proceedings and public law processes.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and document preparation.
• Case management within a social care context.
• Knowledge of Childcare Law and public law procedures.
