Childcare Solicitor (Locum) – Family Court Advocacy

About the role

CRA Consulting is partnering with a local authority in Warrington to recruit an experienced Childcare Solicitor on a 12‑month locum contract. The role sits within the Council's child safeguarding team, providing specialist legal advice and strong advocacy in Family Court matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on child safeguarding and childcare issues.
• Undertake advocacy in the Family Court, representing the Council.
• Interpret legislation and deliver practical, common‑sense guidance.
• Advise councillors and officers on legal implications.
• Manage a varied caseload efficiently, working closely with social workers and other professionals.
• Support the wider legal team with high‑quality advice.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Childcare Solicitor, preferably within a Local Authority.
• Strong knowledge of child safeguarding and public law.
• Significant Family Court advocacy experience – essential.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, pragmatic, client‑focused approach with strong team‑working abilities.
