Class 1 Building Control Inspector – London

About the role

A reputable London Local Authority is seeking a Class 1 Building Control Inspector to join its growing Building Control team. You will work on a varied portfolio of residential and low‑risk developments, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and providing expert advice to stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake Building Control inspections on domestic and low‑risk construction projects within the scope of your Class 1 RBI registration.
• Assess Building Regulation applications, plans and technical submissions for compliance with current legislation.
• Carry out site inspections, produce clear reports, identify non‑compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide technical advice to homeowners, developers, architects and contractors throughout the construction process.
• Maintain accurate records using Building Control systems and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Class 1 Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator.
• Experience in a Local Authority, Approved Inspector or Building Control environment.
• Strong knowledge of the Building Regulations, Building Safety Act and related legislation.
• Excellent communication and customer‑service skills, able to explain technical matters clearly.
• Organisational ability to manage a varied workload effectively.
