Client Accountant – Manchester

About the role

We are looking for an ambitious Client Accountant to join our growing Manchester practice. You will manage a portfolio of SME clients, delivering high‑quality accounting and tax services while acting as a trusted advisor. The role offers immediate responsibility, clear progression pathways and the chance to influence the firm’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Manage your own portfolio of SME clients.
• Prepare year‑end statutory accounts.
• Prepare Corporation Tax and Personal Tax returns.
• Produce VAT returns and support PAYE/payroll processing.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client queries.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date client records.
• Stay informed of tax legislation and accounting standards.
• Contribute to the practice’s growth and development.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years’ experience in an accountancy practice or similar client‑facing role.
• AAT qualification or studying towards AAT, ACCA or ACA.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and tax returns.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to manage your own workload.

Required skills

• Proficiency with cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Office skills.
