Commercial Pipefitter

About the role

Insite Energy is expanding its Field Operations team and seeks an experienced Commercial Pipefitter to deliver high‑quality mechanical installations for district heating and heat network schemes across the UK. The role is senior, field‑based and offers autonomy from site assessment through installation, testing, commissioning support, documentation and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Own mechanical installation projects from initial site assessment to final handover, including testing and commissioning support.
• Maintain exceptional standards of workmanship, safety, compliance and customer satisfaction on district heating plant rooms and metering infrastructure.
• Plan and manage large‑scale drain‑downs, system isolations and coordinate welding activities on commercial sites.

Required profile

• Proven experience with commercial heating, LTHW, CHW or district heating systems and medium to large‑diameter pipework.
• Ability to independently scope, specify and document commercial mechanical works and produce technical reports.
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving capability within commercial mechanical environments.

Required skills

• Installation of steel, copper and plastic pipework.
• Press‑fit, threaded, soldered and flanged jointing methods.
• Welding and safe coordination of welding activities.
• Heat‑meter installation (including DN100 flanged meters) and commissioning.
• Planning of large‑diameter system isolation and drain‑down procedures.
