Complex Injury Assistant Lawyer

About the role

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within the Complex Injury Claims Team handling large loss claims. You will assist the lead lawyer on complex, high‑value multi‑track and catastrophic injury claims, working closely with senior claims handlers and insurance clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex injury claims, including brain, spinal cord, amputation and fatal cases.
• Communicate with sophisticated insurer clients, respond to queries and provide regular updates.
• Conduct forensic analysis of quantum evidence, prepare chronologies and identify anomalies.
• Review medical records, identify relevant issues and instruct medical experts.
• Analyse liability evidence, spot gaps and draft concise technical advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and causation.
• Interview witnesses, draft statements and pleadings, and attend conferences, mediations and court hearings.
• Instruct counsel, attend JSMs, mediations and trials both remotely and in person.
• Maintain case management systems with up‑to‑date information and ensure compliance with SRA standards.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor, CILEX member or proven relevant legal experience.
• Experience handling claims involving complex medical issues and high‑value injuries.
• Demonstrated ability in indemnity, liability and quantum analysis.
• Strong critical‑thinking, analytical and advocacy skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce professional legal documents.
