Associate – Catastrophic Injury Lawyer

About the role

Keoghs is seeking an Associate to join its Complex Injury Claims team in Southampton. The role involves handling high‑value, multi‑track catastrophic injury claims, working closely with a Lead Lawyer and major insurer clients.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Lead Lawyer on a caseload of complex, high‑value catastrophic injury claims.
• Manage claims from instruction through settlement or trial, including drafting pleadings and applications.
• Analyse liability and quantum evidence, reviewing large volumes of medical records and preparing chronologies.
• Assist with claim valuation using the Ogden Tables and draft technical advice on indemnity, liability and causation.
• Interview witnesses, draft statements, and liaise with insurers, experts and other stakeholders.
• Instruct counsel, attend conferences, JSMs, mediations and trials.
• Delegate tasks and mentor Legal Assistants and Paralegals.
• Maintain accurate case management and management information in line with client requirements.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a genuine interest in complex injury litigation.
• Experience assisting on claims involving indemnity, liability and quantum.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, especially around quantum assessment.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle complex medical evidence.
• Confident written and verbal communication, including telephone advocacy.
• Sound understanding of litigation processes, case law and court rules.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Positive, confident, enthusiastic team player with excellent client‑care skills.
