Consultant – Allergy & Immunology

About the role

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Consultant in Allergy & Immunology to join the multidisciplinary team at St James’s University Hospital. This full‑time, ten‑programmed‑activity post will involve clinical, laboratory and supervisory duties within a nationally recognised service for primary immunodeficiencies, autoinflammatory disorders and a wide range of allergic conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide specialist outpatient and day‑case services for allergy and immunology patients.
• Supervise resident and specialist doctors, specialist nurses, pharmacists and physician associates.
• Offer on‑call clinical advice on a 1:4 rota across the Leeds Teaching Hospitals network.
• Support and develop the immunology laboratory, with interchangeable time for clinic sessions.
• Contribute to the department’s QPIDS‑accredited service and academic activities.

Required profile

• Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom (or equivalent).
• Completion of a recognised training programme in clinical and laboratory immunology (JRCPTB curriculum or equivalent).
• Holder of, or within six months of, entry onto the Specialist Register.
• Experience in managing rare primary immunodeficiencies and systemic autoinflammatory disorders.
