Control Systems IT Engineer – OT Cybersecurity Specialist

About the role

The Control Systems IT Engineer will act as a cyber‑security specialist for Operational Technology (OT) environments, protecting and monitoring industrial networks for a large Aberdeen‑based operator. Reporting to the CISO function, the role works closely with Operations, Engineering and vendors to embed security without altering control logic.

Key responsibilities

• Design secure OT network architectures and develop hardening baselines.
• Review OT project designs for cybersecurity compliance and implement segmentation.
• Manage OT firewalls, IDS/IPS, MFA, access controls and vulnerability management tools.
• Deploy and maintain monitoring solutions, integrate OT data into SIEM/SOAR platforms.
• Maintain comprehensive OT asset inventories and oversee patching, AV and OS status.
• Support incident response and conduct risk assessments for OT systems.
• Govern third‑party/vendor access and ensure compliance with IEC/ISA 62443, NIST 800‑82, ISO 27001.
• Deliver OT security training and champion security awareness across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, including at least 2 years in OT/ICS environments.
• Demonstrated experience with industrial protocols, DCS/SCADA systems (e.g., Honeywell, Yokogawa, Kongsberg).
• Willingness to work offshore approximately 90 days per year.
• Relevant certifications such as GICSP, CISSP or equivalent are advantageous.
