Controller – Financial Leadership

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Controller to provide financial leadership for a growing multi‑entity business in London, Ontario. The role blends hands‑on oversight of core accounting functions with strategic guidance to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and long‑term planning.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with ownership to evaluate financial results, guide decisions, and recommend actions for stronger margins and sustainable growth.
• Review performance across locations, translating financial data into insights on labour, food costs, and other key metrics.
• Direct end‑to‑end accounting for multiple entities, ensuring accurate records and timely reporting.
• Maintain oversight of profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow to support operational and strategic planning.
• Strengthen financial controls, enforce consistent accounting practices, and promote discipline across finance operations.
• Lead and develop office/accounting staff, driving efficiency and defining future resourcing needs.
• Improve reporting processes using Sage 300, AP automation, AI‑enabled tools, dashboards, and KPI tracking.
• Coordinate with external accountants, banks, and other partners for year‑end activities, compliance, and alignment of internal and external reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Controller or senior finance leader with responsibility for accounting operations and performance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of full‑cycle accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash‑flow management in a multi‑entity, multi‑unit hospitality environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead finance staff, build structure, and ensure accountability.
• Solid understanding of internal controls, compliance requirements, and accurate timely reporting.
• Excellent communication and business‑partnering skills.
