Cover Supervisor – Day‑to‑Day (Full‑time Temporary)

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and confident individuals to join secondary schools in Harrow as Cover Supervisors on a day‑to‑day basis. This temporary, full‑time position offers graduates and those with experience in education, youth work, tutoring or coaching the chance to develop practical classroom support skills within a supportive school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise classes in the absence of the regular teacher, delivering pre‑set lessons.
• Maintain a positive learning environment and manage classroom behaviour.
• Support students with their learning, answering questions where appropriate.
• Follow school policies and procedures, ensuring students complete assigned work.
• Monitor attendance and keep accurate classroom records.
• Deal calmly with low‑level behaviour issues and build professional relationships with students and staff.
• Provide feedback to teaching and pastoral staff as required.

Required profile

• Confident, reliable and approachable with strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ideally educated to degree level or with experience working with young people.
• Experience in a school, education, tutoring, youth work, coaching or similar environment is desirable.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and professionally.
• Organised, adaptable and able to follow lesson plans across different year groups and subjects.
• Passionate about supporting young people and maintaining high standards of behaviour.
• Available for day‑to‑day work across Harrow.
