About the role

Teaching Assistant – Complex Needs – a caring, resilient and enthusiastic professional is needed to join a welcoming SEND school in Rochdale. The role supports pupils in a specialist classroom with complex needs, including SEMH and challenging behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils with complex SEND needs within a specialist classroom.
• Facilitate learning, communication, personal development and independence.
• Manage and respond positively to challenging behaviour.
• Work closely with the class teacher and the wider SEND team.
• Provide consistent, nurturing and individualised support.

Required profile

• Recent experience supporting children or young people in a SEND school or specialist provision.
• Experience with pupils who have complex SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
• Confidence working in high‑needs environments.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply.
• Provide a full employment and education history with references.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
