Credit Controller – Manchester

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our busy finance team in Manchester. You will own the full credit control function, ensuring timely collection of outstanding debt across a varied ledger while building strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a high‑volume ledger, proactively chasing overdue invoices by phone, email and letter.
• Build and maintain client relationships, resolving payment queries and disputes professionally.
• Monitor debtor accounts, allocate cash receipts, and reconcile accounts regularly.
• Prepare aged debtor reports and present updates to finance and senior management.
• Liaise with sales, operations and customer service to resolve billing issues.
• Assess creditworthiness of new and existing customers and recommend credit limits.
• Support month‑end processes and reporting as required.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit control with a track record of reducing debtor days.
• Strong communication skills, confident on the phone and in writing.
• Highly organised, able to prioritise a busy workload and meet deadlines.
• Team player who can also work independently and take initiative.
• Based in London or able to commute to London regularly.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
