Customs Supervisor

About the role

An established international logistics and supply‑chain business is looking for an experienced Customs Supervisor to lead its customs operations. The role requires strong customs clearance expertise, leadership experience and a thorough understanding of UK customs regulations. You will oversee clearance activities, manage priorities and support a high‑performing team in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and submit import and export customs declarations accurately and on time.
• Serve as the primary contact for customs‑related queries from customers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
• Monitor customs entries, ensure follow‑up actions are completed and maintain accurate shipment records.
• Supervise a customs operations team, allocate workloads and monitor performance against targets.
• Identify training needs, deliver coaching and drive continuous improvement.
• Process customs duty and tax payments, support month‑end financial reporting and account reconciliation.
• Ensure customer invoicing is accurate and timely, and produce operational performance reports.
• Maintain compliance with UK customs legislation, trade agreements, tariff requirements and border controls.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in customs, freight forwarding, international trade or a related sector.
• Strong knowledge of UK customs legislation and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a team in an operational environment.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
