Data Scientist – Content Understanding

About the role

Spotify is looking for a Data Scientist II to join the Content Platform team, which ensures that music, podcasts, and audiobooks are ingested, structured, and delivered at global scale. You will work at the intersection of user behavior, metadata, and machine learning to improve content classification and understanding.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze user behavior, content trends, and catalog data to generate insights for product decisions.
• Refine content classification and taxonomy systems to improve grouping of media assets.
• Develop annotation‑based evaluation frameworks, including sampling design and baseline definition, and assess LLM performance in annotation workflows.
• Build and maintain metrics, dashboards, and text‑to‑SQL environments that support decision‑making.
• Improve dataset quality and data transformations using SQL and DBT for reliable reporting.

Required profile

• Experience analyzing complex datasets that combine user behavior with content and metadata signals.
• Proven ability to design metrics and reporting systems for product or policy decisions.
• Strong foundation in statistics and experience creating evaluation approaches without controlled experiments.
• Experience building annotation‑based measurement frameworks and defining sampling strategies.
