DEEP Specialist – Gifted Education Coordinator

About the role

The DEEP Specialist supports the Davis Enhanced Education Program by designing and delivering enrichment instruction for high‑ability and gifted students across multiple grade levels. Working under the school principal and DEEP Director, the specialist helps create a rigorous, deep‑thinking curriculum that aligns with district standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze student assessment data (RISE, Acadience, etc.) to identify top‑tier learners for program services.
• Develop curriculum and materials that promote critical, higher‑level thinking using Depth & Complexity icons and Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy.
• Deliver pull‑out enrichment instruction in small‑group settings and, when needed, one‑on‑one independent study projects.
• Manage student behavior and maintain clear communication with administrators, teachers, and parents.
• Prepare a quarterly newsletter for stakeholders and attend required monthly training.
• Utilize district technology platforms such as email, OneDrive, Teams, and Canvas.
• Assist with proctoring the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and maintain program bulletin boards or website.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferably in gifted or talented education.
• Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt lesson plans across grade levels and subjects.

What we offer

• Classified position with a salary of $19.60 per hour (2025‑26 Support Salary Table).
• Full‑time schedule: 2.4 hours per day, 174 days per year.
