Depot Manager – Newchapel

About the role

Biffa is seeking an experienced Depot Manager to lead the Newchapel waste‑collection depot. You will be responsible for operational performance, health & safety compliance, and delivering reliable, sustainable waste services to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the depot’s operational performance and profit & loss.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, environmental regulations and operator licence requirements.
• Drive performance against KPIs, focusing on cost control, productivity and efficiency.
• Lead, develop and motivate drivers and operational staff to foster a high‑performing culture.
• Coordinate depot resources to maximise service quality and productivity.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local customers and the Biffa Business Improvement Manager.
• Set clear objectives, monitor results and implement continuous improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Operations Manager, Depot Manager, General Manager or similar senior role in services, logistics or transport.
• Commercially minded with the ability to work in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment.
• Experience managing profit and loss performance (desirable).
• Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) qualification (desirable).
• IOSH qualification (desirable).
• Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
