Deputy Store Manager – Retail

About the role

As Deputy Store Manager you will support the General Manager in leading a fast‑moving Zara store in London. You’ll be responsible for driving commercial performance, maintaining high visual standards and ensuring an excellent customer experience while fostering an inclusive team culture.

Key responsibilities

• Support the GM to deliver store performance through clear priorities, floor leadership and consistent follow‑through.
• Use KPIs and store insights to take quick action and keep performance on track.
• Support commercial launches and ensure merchandising reflects best sellers, trends and customer demand.
• Maintain strong visual standards, fast execution and customer‑led merchandising.
• Drive routines across stock flow, replenishment and stockroom organisation to maintain availability.
• Ensure high operational standards for security, shrinkage, cash procedures, health & safety, cleanliness and maintenance.
• Coach and motivate teams on shift, provide regular feedback and address issues promptly.
• Assist with recruitment, onboarding and creating a positive candidate experience.
• Contribute to succession planning and development of team members.
• Manage hours budget, rotas and productivity targets, taking timely action when needed.

Required profile

• Experience in a fast‑paced retail environment in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong commercial awareness and confidence to act on the shop floor.
• Calm, clear leadership style with ability to motivate teams under pressure.
• High standards across operations (stock, shrinkage, cash, compliance).
• Fashion and trend awareness with ability to translate insight into action.
• Commitment to inclusive leadership, building engagement and supporting development.
• Ownership and integrity – follows through, takes responsibility and leads by example.
