Deputy/Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care Home

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Deputy/Registered Manager to lead a children’s residential care home in London and Essex. The successful candidate will transition into a Registered Manager role, overseeing the day‑to‑day operation and ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people with complex needs.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management to the residential care team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with Ofsted, Children’s Home Regulations and internal quality standards.
• Develop, implement and review policies, procedures and personalised care plans.
• Maintain safeguarding practices, train staff and respond promptly to any concerns.
• Oversee budgeting, staffing, recruitment, retention and resource management.
• Collaborate with social workers, families, schools and external agencies to support each child’s wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and ensure the home environment is safe and well‑maintained.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a senior role within children’s residential or similar care settings.
• Registered Manager qualification or willingness to attain it.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks (Ofsted, safeguarding, health & safety).
• Excellent leadership, communication and team‑development abilities.
• Commitment to delivering high‑quality, child‑centred care.
