Development Engineer – Tooling

About the role

Carbon ThreeSixty is seeking a Development Engineer – Tooling to design and develop mould tooling, jigs and fixtures for advanced composite components. You will work across automotive, aerospace, defence, energy and other sectors, supporting projects from R&D prototyping to serial production.

Key responsibilities

• Create concept‑level and detailed CAD models, technical drawings and GD&T specifications for tooling.
• Develop BOMs, manage cost estimates and produce process instructions for manufacturing and inspection.
• Introduce new tooling and equipment into production in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineers and Production Managers.
• Liaise with customers and suppliers, supporting RFQs and technical queries.
• Troubleshoot production issues, implement robust solutions and support quality alerts.
• Participate in design reviews, assembly/test activities and respond to feedback or modification requests.
• Maintain existing products, identify issues, drive continuous improvement and handle ad‑hoc engineering requests in a traceable manner.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Excellent attention to detail and a methodical working approach.
• Strong understanding of fundamental engineering principles and problem‑solving enthusiasm.
• Experience with composites, carbon fibre, moulding processes or jig & fixture development is an advantage but not mandatory.
