Domestic Hospital Cleaner

About the role
We are seeking a Domestic Hospital Cleaner to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients, staff and visitors at a hospital in Swindon. The role is essential in reducing infection risk and supporting high standards of hygiene.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks such as mopping, vacuuming, dusting and wiping surfaces across wards, toilets, corridors, waiting rooms and treatment areas.
- Carry out scheduled deep cleans, including isolation rooms and other high‑risk areas, using hospital‑approved chemicals and equipment.
- Follow infection‑prevention protocols, using colour‑coded materials and cleaning high‑touch surfaces regularly.
- Apply COSHH regulations, wear appropriate PPE and dispose of it correctly.
- Report any incidents or hazards promptly and work collaboratively with nursing and ward staff to align cleaning schedules with patient care needs.
Required profile
- Basic literacy and numeracy.
- Understanding of basic health and safety principles.
- Previous cleaning experience in a healthcare or similar environment.
- Customer‑service orientation and clear verbal communication.
- Desirable: Level 2 Cleaning Support Services qualification and experience in infection‑control settings.
Required skills
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- Use of colour‑coded cleaning equipment and hospital‑approved chemicals.
What we offer
- £12.71 per hour (£28 per week, 28 hours).
- Shift pattern: 7 am – 3 pm, 4 days on / 4 days off.
- Temporary contract for 3 months with strong potential for extension or permanent placement.
