Electrical Design Engineer – LV, Control Panels & Water Projects

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a major UK water and pumping infrastructure programme. This 12‑month contract role is delivery‑focused, working on low‑voltage (LV) systems, motor control centres (MCCs) and control panels for water, wastewater and utility projects.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and review LV system designs, MCCs, control panels, cable sizing, single‑line diagrams (SLDs), schematics and I/O lists.
• Ensure all designs comply with BS/BS EN standards, BS 7671, WIMES, CDM and relevant water/rail regulations.
• Support electrical calculations, documentation checks, QA reviews and FAT/SAT activities.
• Collaborate with project, mechanical and procurement teams to deliver integrated design packages.

Required profile

• Experience designing electrical systems for water, wastewater, utilities, pumping stations or industrial LV applications.
• Strong knowledge of UK wiring regulations and relevant standards.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; ECS card and 18th Edition desirable.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, equipment lists and client specifications accurately.
