Electrical Engineer – Projects Team

About the role

Alfa Laval UK&I is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Projects Team, working on electrical‑automation system design for wastewater treatment solutions. The role can be based in Keele or Camberley and involves the full project lifecycle from design through commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and document electrical‑automation systems for standard and customer‑specific solutions.
• Provide bid and quotation support, create specifications for procurement, and manage control panel and instrumentation suppliers.
• Oversee subcontractors, review wiring diagrams, and conduct Factory Acceptance Tests of control panels.
• Produce technical documentation such as control philosophy, equipment schedules and O&M manuals.
• Support start‑up, commissioning and troubleshooting on‑site or remotely.

Required profile

• Experienced Electrical Engineer with solid experience in a similar role.
• Autonomous, motivated, customer‑focused and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel across the UK and Ireland.

Required skills

• Ability to read and modify electrical schematics and knowledge of general electrical engineering principles.
• Understanding of UK standards, WIMES specifications; ATEX/DSEAR knowledge is a plus.
• Familiarity with motors, VFDs, pumps, flow meters, sensors and control valves.
• Working knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADA systems, especially Siemens, Allen‑Bradley and B&R, and communication protocols.
