Electrician – Street Lighting & Infrastructure

About the role

Amey is seeking a permanent Electrician to join its Trafford account in Manchester. You will work on‑site at Tatton House, supporting Trafford Council by installing, maintaining and repairing street lighting and related infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Install electrical equipment in line with HEA and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations.
• Diagnose and repair street lighting faults, replace failed components and perform routine inspections.
• Excavate for columns, bollards, sign poles and lay ducting/cable.
• Commission new lighting columns, bollards and illuminated sign poles.
• Record test results using certificates and handheld computers.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours emergency call‑out rota.
• Maintain security of plant, tools and materials and adhere to PPE requirements.

Required profile

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
• Willingness to attend training, toolbox talks and standby rota.
• Responsibility for personal health and safety and that of the public.

Required skills

• HEA 18th Edition wiring regulations.
• IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations.
• Electrical inspection testing and certification.
• SWA/PVC/Concentric insulated cable installation.
• Excavation for utility installations.
• Commissioning of street lighting infrastructure.
• Use of handheld testing equipment for recording results.
