Engineering Manager – Forward Deployed Infrastructure

About the role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Deployment Engineering team in EMEA. This isn’t a typical management role – you’ll lead from the front, get hands‑dirty, and drive impact while managing Forward Deployed Engineers deploying Cohere’s North platform.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Forward Deployed Engineers across EMEA.
• Drive end‑to‑end deployment of North in private‑cloud and on‑premises environments.
• Own customer success from technical implementation through delivery.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Sales to shape AI delivery for enterprises.
• Mentor the team on cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and enterprise‑grade deployments.
• Optimize performance for OpenSearch, databases, and other K8s services.
• Define scaling guidelines for GPU and CPU compute resources.
• Build processes and technology that scale as the company grows fast.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated leadership.
• Hands‑on experience deploying enterprise software at scale.
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• High agency – you don’t wait for permission to solve problems.
• Doer mentality – you dig in and get stuff done.
• Experience managing engineers in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
