Engineering Technician & Trainer

About the role

As an Engineering Technician and Trainer at RAF Brize Norton you will ensure vital aviation equipment is maintained, calibrated and ready for operation while delivering specialist training to support airworthiness and mission delivery. The role combines hands‑on technical work with knowledge sharing across altimeter and wiring systems.

Key responsibilities

• Control, test and calibrate MOD test equipment in line with MOD Air publications and approved manuals.
• Maintain, service and manage altimeters, keeping accurate records and ensuring compliance with airworthiness requirements.
• Deliver Precision Termination Tooling (PTT) and Electrical Wiring Interconnect Systems (EWIS) training and presentations.
• Act as the focal point of expertise for EWIS training, providing clear guidance to customers and colleagues.
• Provide support in the Altimeter Bay and EWIS areas during absences to maintain business continuity.
• Ensure all work is correctly certified, recorded and retained to meet statutory, quality and audit requirements.

Required profile

• Engineering or aviation qualification such as BTEC, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or military equivalent.
• Relevant experience in the aviation industry with a strong understanding of air safety and airworthiness.
• Ability to manage risk, human factors and error management.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills with confidence to deliver training.
• Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance; additional security clearance may be required.
