About the role
We are seeking an enthusiastic English Specialist Teaching Assistant to join a thriving secondary school in Tower Hamlets. This full‑time, term‑time position offers recent English graduates the chance to gain hands‑on experience supporting Key Stages 3 and 4 learners.
Key responsibilities
- Support pupils during English lessons across KS3 and KS4.
- Deliver targeted small‑group and one‑to‑one literacy interventions.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom activities and resource organisation.
- Help students build confidence in reading, writing and communication.
- Provide support for GCSE English Language and Literature preparation.
- Monitor progress and give feedback to teaching staff.
Required profile
- A degree in English, English Literature, Creative Writing or a related subject.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
- Patient, enthusiastic and able to build positive relationships with students.
- Interest in pursuing teacher training in the future.
