English Tutor (Central London School)

About the role

A leading central London school is seeking enthusiastic English tutors to join its support department from September 2026. The role involves working with pupils of varying ages and abilities, both remotely and on‑site, to boost attainment, confidence and participation in English.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one, one‑to‑two and one‑to‑three tutoring sessions for students aged 11‑18.
• Collaborate with school staff to identify pupils who would benefit from mentoring.
• Develop and agree on personalised action plans with pupils.
• Conduct occasional home visits to discuss progress with parents and offer strategic advice.
• Liaise with teachers, social workers and educational psychologists, making referrals when needed.
• Support pupils during the transition to secondary education and help improve self‑esteem.

Required profile

• Holder of an undergraduate degree in English or a related field.
• Passion for working with young people and a desire to make a positive impact.
• Experience as a mentor, tutor, or teacher in a school or private tuition setting is desirable.
• Willingness to take on a role with reduced administrative responsibility compared to full‑time teaching.
