Estimator – Construction Projects

About the role

The Estimator will play a key role in delivering accurate and competitive pre‑construction estimates for a wide range of refurbishment and fit‑out projects across various sectors. Working closely with the pre‑construction team, the role ensures commercially astute decisions are made while keeping clients informed throughout the process. This is a new position created in response to an upturn in project volume.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour and equipment.
• Analyse drawings, specifications and other project documents to determine requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers and subcontractors to obtain pricing and ensure comprehensive coverage.
• Challenge estimates and quotes to achieve the most commercially beneficial outcome.
• Assess risks and opportunities and incorporate them into cost estimates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing.
• Prepare tender submissions and support the bid process for new projects.
• Monitor and update cost databases to reflect current market conditions.

Required profile

• Proven experience estimating projects up to £3 million.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods and materials.
• Understanding of estimating software such as ConQuest and proficiency in MS Office, notably Excel.
• Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Effective communication and a proactive, collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
