Design Engineer – Construction Engineering (Bristol)

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to join our Design team in Bristol. You will work within a 100‑strong Construction Engineering capability, delivering safe and buildable solutions across permanent, temporary and traffic management designs. The role involves close collaboration with clients, site teams and multidisciplinary engineers to ensure high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Agree technical requirements with clients, challenge where necessary and develop fee proposals.
• Lead and organise the day‑to‑day workload of engineers and technical staff within the design team.
• Ensure design compliance with client remit, CDM Regulations, SHE Management System and Quality Management System.
• Produce design deliverables such as calculations, drawings, reports and risk assessments.
• Identify and implement value‑engineering opportunities with appropriate approvals.
• Represent the project at client meetings, manage financial and commercial aspects and monitor progress against programme and budget.

Required profile

• Completed IEng Initial Professional Development (or progressing towards CEng) with a recognised institution such as ICE.
• Level 6 or Level 7 engineering qualification with significant relevant experience.
• Proven experience in Temporary Works Design.
